Suedo Apmuza is pronouced “suede-oh app-moo-za.” The last “za” rhymes with “the.”
Suedo Apmuza is just a phrase I made up. A friend of mine put the ‘naming rights’ to his apartment up on Ebay a few years ago and when I won the auction (~$15, I think), I came up with ‘Suedo Apmuza’ as the name he would thereafter use to refer to his apartment.
The only other historical note is that ‘Suedo’ is how I often mis-pronounce(d) ‘pseudo’. I still do it sometimes.
Oh, and there’s some word-associations that tie ‘Suedo’ to ‘Cool’:
- ‘Suedo’ is pronounced ’suede-oh’, which reminds me of suede fabric
- I think of suede fabric as being smooth
- Smooth is analagous to being cool
There’s not much history behind ‘apmuza.’ It just sounded interesting after ’suedo.’
So — that’s where Suedo Apmuza comes from. I find it delightfully appropriate for this music blog because like music, the meaning is somewhat unknown … but it sounds cool.
